AS Robert Pattinson and the Twilight cast took to the VMAs stage in Los Angeles, Kristen Stewart cut a lonely figure 2,000 miles away in Canada.

The 22-year-old actress, who starred alongside her ex in the smash hit movie franchise, was on the red carpet promoting her new film On The Road.
It was her first official public appearance since being caught cheating two months ago with married director Rupert Sanders, 41.
And earlier in the day she had looked forlorn at LAX airport on her way to the Toronto Film Festival, wearing R-Patz's T-shirt with her middle finger strapped up.
But Kristen put on a brave face for the event, wearing a pretty lace dress with sequinned flowers and black heels and winking for the cameras.
She smiled as she posed with Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund, her co-stars in the movie version of Jack Kerouac's 1950s novel.
And the star told red carpet reporters she was getting "amazing" support and added: "I'm doing fine."
Back in LA, the MTV awards audience was treated to the debut of the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 trailer, the final instalment of the wildly-successful teen vampire series.

Kristen met Pattinson, 26, on the set of the first film back in 2008.
And the actor and the rest of the cast - Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser,Taylor Lautner, Jackson Rathbone and director Bill Condon - all spoke onstage at the Staples Center ceremony.Read more: The Sun
